i searched over the internet and came with this site. It says that the generic for Adoxa is Doxycycline, so why do i have to pay for the brand name? which cost around $400
Why my pharmacist told me that adoxa didn't have a generic?

The problem with Doxycycline is that it comes in many different forms, monohydrate, hyclate, etc. Just because the internet is telling you the generic for Adoxa is Doxycycline, doesn't mean it has a generic. Every drug has a generic, it's the ingredient name, it doesn't mean that the generic is available for that drug. I worked in a retail pharmacy for 4 years and I now work in a Specialty Pharmacy, and I can promise you that the pharmacist did not lie, they don't get any perks for dispensing a brand name. Most pharmacies are required by law to dispense the generic, if available, unless otherwise stated by a physician on the prescription.
