These medications are causing her to itch and they are now giving her an anti histamine (Piriton) to ease the itching.
I may add that she is also diabetic, and has several other complaints.
I know she has Clostridium Difficile, but she has had Irritable Bowel Syndrome since about 1978.
Can these medications be helping her problem?

Jean, you can assume they are giving these to her because they are "practicing" medicine. They apparently are not sure of her condition or infection, and therefore are trying multiple anitbiotics. They did the same thing to my husband and would not listen to us at all. He is also diabetic. Went in with a kidney stone. He was in and out of hospital 3 times. To ER 5 times - thye just kept adding another antibiotic each time. They never did find the root cause. Best of luck to you and your mother.

Thankyou so much for your recent contact. I have managed to arrange an appointment with my Mothers consultant as I desperately need to get to the bottom of lots of questions. I made add, that my Mother had an operation about 30 years ago to remove her inflamed gallbladder and from that moment until now she has had severe diarrhea problems. Apparently, she should have been informed that removal of the gallbladder can cause problems such as diarrhea, which can last a lifetime. I feel that if patients were told of the outcome of this open surgery, I am sure they would prefer to look at alternatives. After having the gallbladder removed, she had to return to hospital to have further internal surgery for some damage or the other that had been caused to her. This is one of the many questions I need to ask. I have spent around 4 days researching the possible pitfalls of having the gallbladder removed and also the treatment my Mother has been receiving. I cannot wait to see the consultant and I'm sure he'll be equally pleased to see me !!! RegardsJean
Best of luck to you. Take care.
