Pseudoephedrine is only a controlled substance in Mississippi. It is a prescription item in Oregon, but I'm not certain if it is a controlled substance there. Many other states are pushing to make it a prescription item. Other states currently have some type of restricitve law in place to help deter the manufacturing of methamphetamine. Pseudoephedrine is one of the main ingredients in methamphetamine.

At my pharmacy there is a card in place of all medications containing pseudophedrine. You have to take the card to pharmacy counter and they will give you the medication. They also have to write your name down which is put into the computer system so if you try to buy more than the limit for our state than your name is tagged.
