It's almost like a hangover. I'm very irritable and have constant thoughts of cutting myself. Suicide comes to mind as well. But I wont do that. It just keeps popping in and out of my head. Ive been taking it for 6 days now.
Why do I wake up in the mornings really depressed and irritable?

Hi svenblack,
You need to contact your prescribing gp,these meds are obviously not agreeing with you, thats why you are having the constant thoughts.
If you've just started this med then the side effects state worsen of thoughts of suicide and/or bad thoughts, but all the same you should let your doc know how bad you're feeling.
Contact him/her asap and take care..

Hey Thanks for replying! Honestly, I didn't think anyone would. I'm new to this site. I just found it today in a desperate attempt to find people who are going through (or close too) the same thing as me.
Anyways, back to my question. haha. Do you think that these side effects i am having will just ware off eventually? I mean, I heard it takes awhile for a medication to worrk at it's fullest. I've only been on mirtazapine for 6 days. It helps with my insomnia. I take it and I can easily fall asleep within a hour. Also, it helps increase my appetite. Which is good. Because I had eating problems along with my depression. I just wish it didnt make me feel so awful in the morning. and the rest of the day too sometimes.
Hi sven,
This site is great for meeting people who are going through similar situations as you,we have all been there in one way or another, you're not alone!!
If the meds are helping you sleep and increasing your appetite-thats good, but i would still contact your doc and explain your increased thoughts of harming yourself!! It can do no harm to tell him/her how you feel, racing thoughts can be pretty scarey at the best of times but increased harmful ones you need to let them know!
OK, I'll do that. Thanks ALOT for your help. That's very thoughtful and caring of you =)
No prob atal! Here anytime,do not feel alone,as i said the site is great, lots of people are suffering with depression, anxiety and alot more and all willing to give good advice or help in any way they can.
Let us know how the doc goes, hope you get your meds sorted soon and you start feeling better asap.
Take care
