Why do I have to wait at least 10 mins after taking meloxicam, before I can lay down?

Actually you should sit up a bit longer than 10 minutes (approximately 30 minutes) after you take meloxicam tablets. Meloxicam can irritate the gastrointestinal tract (that is why it should be taken with food as well). So if you lie down the contents of the stomach will come up into the esophagus ... and irritate the lining. This can be quite painful (heartburn symptoms).
