Preven EC and Plan B, and the newly approved Plan B One Step are all effective methods of emergency contraception (EC).

All emergency contraceptives have to be taken within 72 hours of having unprotected sex or contraceptive failure.
Preven EC is taken as two pills, then another two pills twelve hours later.
Plan B is taken as one pill, then another pill twelve hours later.
Plan B One Step is just the one pill.
