Sorry for this type of question but I have a consult on Monday to obtain my rx for my colonoscopy. I feel the liquid forms of prep are more unbearable than the actually procedure so I am asking those that have tried the pill form to give me their opinion about it. Has anyone been prepped with Osmprep or visicol tablets with or w/o ducolax and if so, what was your opinion about the tablet prep? Any advice is welcomed..sorry for the delicate subjest but I am turing 55 in less than a month. Gotta do what ya gotta do! :)
HUGS!

I've had all of them. They're all horrible and disgusting! The procedure is a breeze compared to the prep needed to be ready for the actual procedure.
I have bowel problems and have had to multiple colonoscopies because I wasn't really 'clean and ready'!!
Your experience will hopefully not be as nasty as mine have been.
Good luck and don't let anything stand in your way of getting this done.
It is so important!
good luck, let me know how it works out

Dear RM... yes, they r all pretty awful compared to the nice sleep that you will get with the Diprivan (propofol).
I have used Fleets phosphasoda once and then Miralax the second time and the third time. I started having these in my early 40s due to the high incidence in my family of colon cancer... both my grandmothers died from colon cancer.
Each endoscopist has their own prep they use to make the colon slippery so that the scope passes easily through the colon... they each have their own preferences. So you will have to see which options your doc will give you. My boyfriend a few years ago did the dulcolax tabs and they seemed to be the most palatable although the part after... the part spent in the bathroom is always unpleasant lol... just follow their instructions to a tee.
Well, I went to the pre appt today and they didn't tell me that I have to have the procedure no more that 30 days after I filled out the paperwork and pick up my prep rx, which is what I did today..so..seeing as i am out of town for the holidays until Jan 5th..I have to reschedule the appt..JUST FOR PAPERWORK..etc, etc..and THEN schedule the colonoscopy! UHG, that means it will be at least the end of January when I have the procedure! I wish they had told me that BEFORE I wasted my day at the Army hospital! BTW they gave me the gallon jug with the powder in it and 4 ducolax pills.. They refused to give me the Osmoprep tablets stating that it's not allowed at the Army hospital(can they do that?) I asked for a hand written and told them I would pay out of pocket for the rx and they still said NO.
Hard to fight that system!

You will do fine RM with the osmoprep... if u were able to do the wd from suboxone u can do this lol. Good luck. Don't worry about it until after the holidays!! Stay well my friend...

Did you prefer the tablet prep over the liquid one?Any difference? I know you have to drink lots of fluids regardless..but I have to convince the Army Dr to rx the tablet or he will give the standard liquid prep,

I don't like any of them.
There is one- a powder in a HUGE bottle, which you then fill with water and drink like a gallon of this horrible stuff. And your supposed to finish it in a ridiculously short period of time.
Go for the pill, I guess, I'd say.
Not any of these are pleasant, let me tell you that right here and right now!
Please don't come back to me and ream me out because this was a horrible experience OK? -JUST KIDDING!!!
I'd say go into it with a positive attitude, and you'll have half the battle won!
