I have been a nurse for 14 months and have not yet had the opportunity to administer one of these injections. Are there fewer complaints of pain/discomfort with any particular injection sites? Also, I have heard SQ and IM--which is correct? Thank you!
Which body part/site have experienced nurses used most frequently for Depo-Provera BC injection?

WhenI gave it, it was an IM injection and the preferred site of women was the deltoid but if I could talk them into it, I got them to let me put it in the gluteal muscle just because it is a larger muscle and absorbs the medicine better and isnt as sore. I would tell them to think about how much they use their arm muscles etc. Some of them would go for the glute and some insisted they wanted it in the arm. Either is ok but, as you know, the gluteal is really the better muscle.
