Details:
I am a 7 year Cancer Survivor who was physically abused from about the age of 4 until I was 18. I also have been in several Car Accidents, 3 of which were Major. I also suffer from depression. My doctor has me on Roxicodone 30mg. 5x daily, for Chronic Pain, Dextroamphetamine 10mg. 2-4x daily, and Prozac 20 mg. 3x daily. The Prozac was not working to well anymore so the Dr. added Lexipro 10mg. 1x daily recently while he weens me of the Prozac. This doesn't seem to be helping after a month or so. I asked the Dr. to put me on Ambilify in addition to the Lexipro. Any suggestions for me? I have not started the Ambilify yet, still waiting to hear some feedback on the results.
So I guess I am asking a couple of questions on this. Please help!
Any advice or help would be much appreciated. I am so sick of being in Chronic Pain and Depressed. At almost 46, I feel as though there is no more help!
Thanks for any advice!

sunsetbella, if your new to this loving family at dc, welcome, cancer survivor, awesom, im sorry about all you went thru during your child hood years. i suffer from depression and im on prozac 40 mg, see a therapist weekly, color and journal and that helps tremendously, also comming here to my family who is my major support is the biggest help of all. i have been on percocet10/325 for about 3 yrs now for chronic tmj. and as we speak, im in a very slow taper, i just dont want to take anymore pain meds, my body always feels sluggish, and i started to have wds in between doses. not to mention went from taking 5 mgs every 6 hours to 20 mgs to every 4, to 32.5 mgs every 4, now every 5. but as of this morning ive reduced 1.5 mg per dose. talk about real slow. thank goodness for a very supportive dr. he said he dont care if it takes a year to taper me off or down to a normal low dose, he will help.

i think now i take it more to prevent the wds, and rls and insomnia, depression, anxiety/panic that comes with the tapering are off the wall, but i manage. and as for not being able to fill your prescription, why is that? is it they dont carry it there at the pharmacy you went too? try and google pharmacys in your area, and as much as annoying it could be, go down the list and call each one asking if they carry it, you may have to ask your dr to rite a different prescription dose and write out the way you take it differently, like mabe 10/325 x3, every 4 hours, or something like that. well hope i coul help here, take care and hang in there

Hey SUNSETBELLA,
I can highly recommend the Abilify if needed. You are in the midst of transitioning from one antidepressant to another and on a low dose, I would wait until you are taking the maximum effective dose of Lexapro before starting the Abilify. I take Abilify and it works well to enhance the antidepressant and to control mood swings.
As far as pain, there are numerous options though difficult to suggest without knowing the reason for the pain. There are several non narcotic pain medicines if your pain is nerve related such as Lyrica or Cymbalta though I don't recommend taking the Cymbalta with the Lexapro as the Cymbalta is an antidepressant as well. You could possible change to Cymbalta if the Lexapro doesn't work. Whether other opiates are a possibility, if the roxy's are difficult to get then I suspect the other opiates will be as well.
If you could tell us a bit more about the cause of the pain might be able to make other suggestions.
Best wishes,
Laurie
