A generic form of viagra should become available some time after the patent expires in 2012. Once this occurs, other companies will be able to manufacture a generic version.
Be wary of anyone selling generic viagra before that date, especially online. These are most likely fake and potentially dangerous. There may be a generic version of viagra available in another country but there is no way to know if you are getting the genuine drug. For this reason you should avoid buying any generic viagra until an approved generic becomes available.
