xanax (a benzodiazepine/CNS depressant) works on gaba in the brain therefor slows down the brain activity (fireing rates of other neurotransmitters) while zanaflex is a short acting muscle relaxer which i dont remember what this works on (im goign to guess... ACH) but its only effective on the body and doesnt do anything for the mind... it all depends on your problem but xanax is also used as a muscle relaxer so if you dont mind addictive properties thats stronger

Both medications can be taken safely in taken as directed. Xanaflex is actually a centrally acting a-2 adrenergic agonist. I personally think Xanax is safer do to the fact that is carries a lot less side effects than Xanaflex. As far as which ones stronger goes.. 2mg of of either will give you different results. I personally think Xanaflex would be "stronger" depending on the dose (If it's more than 4mg than it should be "stronger" than Xanax.) I've personally been on both and Xanaflex gave me more side effects than Xanax does. Xanaflex has also been associated with patients having hallucinations. It's a hard choice but I would chose Xanaflex if it's over 4mg vs a 2mg xanax. It all depends on your physiology as well. Happy Holidays!
