I've recently been given the go ahead by my doctor to take 60mg. in the morning and my usual 160mg/night. Due to severe stress I'm going thru right now. I know 160mg. is the therapeutic dose, I was just wondering if anyone else has had to go higher like me? I'm bipolar 1 and also take clonopin, prozac and lamictal. I don't experience any of the major side effects from the drug anymore and feel comfortable taking it at this level.
What's been your highest dose of geodon?

Hello wyldemane. Don't really have an answer, most people as you said are on the 160mg. 80mg twice per day is the usual dose but given the current dose of Geodon, I'd not go any higher. I took Geodon 80mg morning and night for 6 years. Occasionally they would raise the dose. I am also now a disabled psychiatric nurse. You can take 80mg 3 times a day or 240mg in a day. For insurance reasons to pay for this expensive medication, I then had the pills changed to 60mg 4 times a day. Usually one in the AM, one at noon, and two at night. My struggle with Geodon is taking it with a properly qualified meal. I just don't want to eat 500 calories with every dose, and they told me drinking these calories, like milk or a shake, didn't count. Make sure they continue to monitor your QT interval in your ECG which can widen on Geodon and be even more prone to do so at the higher dose. (This can be fatal). Steph

Hey, its Steph again... its been awhile, but I remember now. I was on 80 mg 3 times a day and it was too much for me to handle and work. So it was lowered to 60 mg 3 times a day. Sorry bout that. But you can take 240mg a day. Steph
