My son takes Vyvanse and used to take Dexedrine. He also takes Strattera and Guanfacine. Before switching to the Vyvanse he seemed fine when taking Dimatapp Cold and Cough and now he seems to react. He also complained of a headache.

Hello michelemom. I found several cough, cold medications that can be taken along with Vyvanse. Sudafed Cough Syrup. Tylenol Plus Children's Cough & Runny Nose. You might ask your doctor or pharmacist to confirm or to get a complete list. Best of wishes to you, pledge

There is a dangerous interaction between Strattera and cold medications that contains decongestants (over the counter or prescribed).
The result can be very high blood pressure, nose bleeds, dizziness and may potentially lead to other more serious symptoms.
I have verified the cause of the reaction with 2 local pharmacists, and can personally vouch for the really unpleasant experience.
My layman's advice is, if you need to take cold meds, stop taking the Strattera during that time.
If you're uncertain if this pertains to you or the medication you're taking, please contact your personal physician or pharmacist.
I understand what you said but I checked throughly and added that a doctor or pharmacist confirm my finding or give thier opinion on the matter. Strattera is not a drug that one drops, and leaves it alone for a time, not taken. Its done, often, but I don't recommend doing so. (BTW welcome to the site),pledge
