Actually one of the best ways to keep from getting sick is to wash your hands OFTEN! Handwashing is singularly one of the best things you can do. Many viruses (colds are a virus) are passed when hands come in contact with mucus droplets of an infected person then those hands touching your face-mouth eyes nose etc. Getting a flu shot does help too, so it is a good idea, but really the best way is to wash hands often, ALWAYS before you eat anything. Try to stay away from known sick people. When you go to the store or out in public be aware and dont touch your face-mouth nose eyes- with unwashed hands and wash those hands as soon as you get in the door. Try to stay away from crowded areas where someone could sneeze in your face or cough too near so you dont breathe someone elses illness tainted mucus droplets, stay away from air travel where stale air is circulated. Honestly this will work better than any vitamins you can take.

You should have a discussion with your internist and find a good hematologist and nutritionist and they as a group, should come up with a plan for you. Washing your hands as mention before will go a long way as well.

I am on warfarin. My coumadin Clinic said i could take a multi vit & mineral, as long as I took it everyday. I take a CVS brand that does not have vit K. I also take extra B-12 & a B-Complex. B's are good for your nerves and gives energy. I am going to take cod liver oil and if it doesn't change my INR too much, I will continue adding it once in a while.

Hi sdsnow, sounds like you need a good toxin supplement and Omega fish oil. An antioxident would help too. Have you ever drank your vitamins? Sounds funny I know but these go straight to your intestines by-passing your stomach. Less chance to have any side effects. Take care, reedeli
