I have just been told to take 1200mgs of calcium daily. I know NOT to take calcium too close to the time I take my thyroid med, but I heard that regardless of what time you take it, the form of calcium called "calcium carbonate" may hinder the absorption of the thryoid meds altogether, no matter what. Can anyone offer any info on what TYPE of calcium is best to take?

Firstly, it is best to take levothyroxine on an empty stomach, preferably first thing in the morning. Separate the dose of levothyroxine and calcium carbonate by at least 2 hours.
