I may soon be starting a course of antabuse, I have checked my regular foods and toiletries for their alcohol content. I wish to avoid being taken ill (particularly in public) by something that I would never associate with alcohol.
What things should I be wary of consuming whilst on a course of antabuse?

Hi are you already taking them? My Dr has warned me against them and won't even prescribe them. If you have the tiniest amount of alcohol you can get really ill, even to the extent of the alcohol content in mouthwash. The thing is, as you probably know, they will not help relieve your cravings or withdrawal symptoms and if you have a weak moment and drink it could prove fatal! This isn't a scare story i promise!!

I have been told by some health pros to avoid vinegars which are in lots of sauces and also mayo but then some have said it would be fine to consume these as long as I'm not drinking them so to speak. So who to believe??? I have read stories from people who have claimed to have reactions from these foods and also stories from people who do not react to these foods. All cases I have read about such reactions have been mild such as..flushing and mild headache. The thing is, it's not worth the risk really or the worry. Also make sure Deodorant is alcohol free... again some react some don't and of course no mouthwash. Some of those light spray cooking oils have alcohol in too but it is said to evaporate during cooking. Good luck... Hope this helps.
