What periactin effect in increase weight?

I found this article and it states this medication is to help people gain weight when they are suffering from Anorexia. Yes, these people need this medication and so does people who just can not gain weight for any other reason.

Periactin is an antihistamine often used and given to persons with a restrictive eating disorder, such as anorexia, with the goal of stimulating the person's appetite. Then, the idea or outcome is some weight gain. Also, periactin is used for insomnia, works rather well for this, but, again, the only drawback is that some persons, who use this for insomnia, also experience stimulated appetite.
