actifed for hayfever, but this is the only medicine that works for hayfever on me

Doctors are very reluctant to prescribe Actifed because of its potential for abuse. The pseudoephedrine component is used to make methamphetamine.
There are plenty of excellent alternatives - it just may take a while until you find one that is right for you.
