Yes you are correct - a potential drug interaction exists between calcium channel blockers and Vfend. If you are prescribed both medicines your doctor will need to monitor you carefully for any adverse effects due to an increase in plasma levels of your CCB. Your dose of CCB may need to be reduced.

Thank you so much! I am wondering if this is the same for all anti fungal medications. You would not know, would you? I am supposed to be put on one of these meds tomorrow.

Talk with your doctor - the drug interaction occurs with all "azole" type antifungals (which is most of them). You could print off the drug interaction link to show your doctor.

Oh, thank you so much. I had a very rough time with my Vfend. Thank god I could finish the two weeks, but I will tell my doctor. Maybe that was the reason I felt so bad.

I quit taking Diltiazem when I started on Vfend. My drugstore warned me, and since I am not in a position to leave the house frequently to keep up with blood tests etc, I just quit. Other people told me I would need to taper off, but my cardiologist said it was ok to just quit.
How long will you be on Vfend? I was on it for only two weeks, then it was discovered that I also had Valley fever and Mycobacterium Fortuitum. Not a good thing to have. Now I am on four different meds and even though I can't tolerate them, my doctor won't change them. It's a very bad situation.
