Well, it is just simply a benzo, so a family doctor could, but really you should have a psychiatrist prescribe that sort of medication. It seems to be almost the same thing as Valium, as it is its metabolite, however, has a much shorter half life of 4 to 14 hr vs. Valium's regular 36 to 200 hr. Really, it the drug falls into the specialty of any doctor who could benefit from prescribing the medication, as it should be not out of the realm of their options. Such as, an addiction doc, as it's good for Alcohol detox, and even any sort of surgery, a little something to take to calm you down before going to the hospital or even the dentist. Hope that this is helpful! Good luck!!
