Vicodin strengths come in 500mg, 660, and 750mg, the maximum dosage for this medication is 1-2 pills every 4-6 hours depending on severity of pain and that information changes with the max dosage allowable for the adult... which is not to exceed 1gram (1000mg)per dose/or 4 grams (4000)mg per day... I have taken a good bit of this medication due to a spinal for c-section with my third child and two reconstructive knee surgeries to left knee, i believe more than 2 months in a cast ankle to hip... 2 auto accidents and a couple other things... Now I am close to 120, 5'2 and I can tell you that during my second knee operation or after, it took me two 500mg per dose, but would last me almost 15 hours... This will also depend on weight, height, and tolerance to meds, people with high tolerances of course need more, but then again, some humans can control pain better than other's, but, I'm a wimpy... can't function if I am in that severe of pain...

Hey Margarita,
Vicoden is a catch all name for hydrocodone with acetominophen (tylenol). There are many strengths ranging from 2.5 to 10mg for the hydrocodone and 325mg to 750 mg for the acetominophen. The strengths are written with the first number being the hydrocodone and the second number being the acetominophen. For example: 5/325 contains 5 mg hydrocodone and 325 mg acetominophen.
The maximum you can take per day is somwhat dependent on the amount of acetominophen. You can take up to 1000mg at a time, no more than 4000mg a day of acetominophen.
There are actually two different types of Vicoden: Vicoden ES and
Vicoden HP. You can take up to 5 tablets a day of Vicoden ES and and up to 6 tablets a day Vicoden HP.
Have a totally confused you, lol. Hope not, if you have further questions feel free to ask,
Laurie
