The difference is they are 2 different drugs. Kadian is a Name Brand type of Time released Morphine pill. Morphine comes as many different time released pills and some work better for some people than others do. Kadian is one of them, but the drug is Morphine, and the strength is 80 mg.

Opana ER is also a time released pill but the drug is Oxymorphone, and the strength is 30 mg, in the pill you mentioned. They come in stronger pills too.

Some people find Oxymorphone works better to kill their pain than plain Morphine does, but other people find regular Morphine works best.
