What is the difference and affects of zanaflex and soma?

Hello,

Soma (Carisoprodol) is a muscle relaxer that works by blocking pain sensations between the nerves and the brain.
Carisoprodol is used together with rest and physical therapy to treat injuries and other painful musculoskeletal conditions.

Zanaflex (Tizanidine) is a short-acting muscle relaxer. It works by blocking nerve impulses (pain sensations) that are sent to your brain.
Tizanidine is used to treat spasticity by temporarily relaxing muscle tone.

Are you taking both medications? Or he simply switched meds? What also may help you is hot soaks in the tub before bedtime and drinking plenty of extra water during the day. I noticed my spasms decreased in severity when I increased my water intake! I was surprised it made such a difference. Also try deep muscle massages before bedtime. If you have someone who can do this for you all the better. Hopefully between the meds, increase water intake, hot baths, and massages, you'll be able to get these spasms and pain under control.
