I was prescribed Vicodin 500mg and now my Dr. put me on Vicoprofen for my pain. I noticed, the two medications have the same key ingredient- Hydrocodone. what makes one better then the other? thankyou.

As Mel ander already explained the difference is in the ingredients: one having acetominophen, the other having iboprophen. The ibuprophen has an anti inflammatory property that the acetominophen does not have so it helps with swelling in the joints for example. Because of this property the Vicoprofen will be more useful for conditions like arthritis.
Hope this helps,
