What is the basic difference in Slo-Niacin and Niaspan?

Niaspan has a patented time-release method that's supposed to reduce
flushing. It's regulated by the FDA. You don't really know what
you're getting OTC Slo-Niacin. See www.niaspan.com for more info.

Niaspan is a brand drug that costs 2000 dollars a year
Slo-Niacin is an over the counter drug
Although I am not sure how effectiver Slo-niacin is.
