Liraglutide is a diabetes medicine that helps control blood sugar levels and is used to treat type 2 diabetes (non-insulin dependent).
Liraglutide is in a class of medicines known as glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonists that help the pancreas make more insulin after eating a meal.
It is made by DNA recombinant engineering using Saccharomyces cerevisiae (yeast cells).
