i had a allergic reaction to sulfur through medication..i broke out in a rash and the itch is extremely bad..been itching for 3 weeks now none of prescribed meds are helping long term

Is there anyway that you mean Sulfa, which is in Bactrim, and Septra. If it is, make sure all doctors and dentists that you use know you have had an allergic reaction. You didn't list the meds they have tried to stem the reaction with, if they have not given you a steroid injection or the pills, you may have to try that to get the allergic reaction under control.

Have you been prescribed a Medrol Dose Pack? That would probably help alot. I use Sarna (OTC) lotion for itching. It does a lot more good than any prescription cream I've had. If you have tried Cortisone (the dose pack) you need to see your doctor, or a dermatologist. Maybe you are allergic to more than just Sulfa drugs. Some food allergies cause skin rash, & so do contact allergies. Change soap lately? Laundry products? Any new carpet or rugs? Things to think about. How about new pets? Hope you find your solution. thanks, i did try both..i was hospitalized for 7 days and sent home but the itch is still very bad ..even with the prescription cream and pills they put me on
Sorry to hear that you are so miserable still. What meds did they send you home on? How long have you been home? Maybe give your doctor a call and let him/her know that you are still itching bad.
