CynthiaMa...I have been taking prescribed Wellbutrin xl 175mg once a day for that last 4 years. The first 3 years were remarkable - I felt very good.
For the past 9 months I have been feeling my old sadness & depression & hopelessness returning. Will there be bad side effects if I combine the generic sr with Wellbutrin xl? Will it help? Our new insurance does not cover Wellbutrin XL but does cover the generic & i aslo wanted to know if there is a difference & also what would happen if I combined the generic with the brand name. My doctor is good but I have been through depression my whole life & it seems to be up to me to determine what makes me feel better. Zoloft was awful & so was Prozac & the other things i tried. Wellbutin is the best thing I have found. Thank you.
What is difference of Wellbutrin SR & XL? can I combine Wellbutrin xl 150mg with generic 75 SR?

Hi Cinthia,
I've been on the bupropion, generic for (wellbutrin) for bout 2 and a half years now. Also has least sexual side effects. It works wonderful. I also take the sertraline (zoloft) 100mg and it too works well. Everyone reacts differently but Im happy with "just" the generics. They are different than name brands.Name brands are more potent. Its mind over matter. If you think that its not working then its time you talk to your doc. Hope this helps

I have a question about the wellbutrin name brand. If they are more potent, would it be the same to just go up on the generic dose? I read that they are the same potency, but the inactive ingredients may be the difference.
