There is nothing available over the counter that is equivalent or close to Bactroban.
Bactroban contains mupirocin, an antibiotic. Mupirocin prevents bacteria from growing on your skin.

the price varies from pharmacy to pharmacy it does come generic and it does depend on the size tube that the doctor does prescribe, you can call different pharmacies in your area and then can save gasoline by calling and finding where the seek it cheaper at, I am not sure there is an alternative to Bactroban if the doctor prescribed this he evidentaly feels this is the best things to use but you might call and ask him and he might be able to use an alternative medication, onething to think about if you buy something and is is cheaper and does not prove effective then there is always the possibility of having to go back and get the Bactroban, the hospital have a social service department here in Indiana and they are suppose to help people who are unablle to afford these medications,
