My son was at his aunts house and she mixed it with applesauce... so I need to know if it is ok, if it can be continued to be mixed...

it says it's okay to mix it with apple juice (I don't think it's okay with apple sauce), as it needs to be on an empty stomach. I may be wrong here.
Recommendations are:
Take Exjade on an empty stomach, at least 30 minutes before you eat.
Do not chew, crush, or swallow the tablet whole. Place the tablet into a glass of apple juice, orange juice, or water and allow the tablet to disperse in the liquid. Drink this mixture right away.
