Not the best idea.
The "cough" is our bodies natural process of removing mucus from the chest.
If you take a cough medicine, for a dry cough, the cough suppressant stops the cough and the mucus remains on the chest.
In some cases this may lead to a bacterial chest infection.
If you have a chesty productive cough you a best to take an expectorant which loosens and thins down the mucus making it easier to be removed.
See you pharmacist for more advice.
