My mother is taking thiola to prevent kidney stones. She's already had two bouts before she started. taking thiola, and since she has started taking it has not had any. She obsessed over taking it, eve stays up till 3am to get her dose in trying to not take it with food. My questions are: what happens if you skip a dosage? What happens if you take it too close to having eaten? Would it be safe to stop takin thiola and try other preventative measures, such as cutting out salts, black tea, and taking natural remedies?
What happens if you skip a dosage? What happens if you take it too close to having eaten? Etc?

You can take the med.1 -2 hours before food. You can't take 2 does's at once if you miss one just take the one your gona take. You can tell her this so she doesn't need to sit up till 3am.I wouldn't take her off this med if its helpping her.Other cutting downs won't hurt though.Look one the computer or get a book.My dads in stage 5 of kidney failure so my mom bought a pottassium cook book.He still has to take his meds.
