Mom is 94. Has been taking aranesp injections for about 4 years. The past 1 year takes 100mg arasept. She has severe dementia and has had mini strokes. She has had one transfusion when her injection appeared to stop working. That was about a year ago. Since then appears to be working. However her blood count is now low and talk of another transfusion seems to be in the near future. Her last transfusion was very challengeing due to her dementia/mini strokes. The last transfusion took 4 hours and is was all we could do to contian her. Are there other options? What happens if she does not get the transfusions? Any information would definitely be appreciated. Thank you.
