What drug equals the same benefit as opana er ?

MSContin, OxyContin, and Opana ER are all pretty comparable. OpanaER and OxyContin dont have generics and are very expensive. Probably your best option for comparable relief and inexpensive is a generic for MSContin (Morphine sulfate ER). The previous poster mentioned Fentanyl which is a good option but, again, is going to be extremely expensive-even generics can run in the hundreds to thousand dollars for a months supply.(I once priced generic Fentanyl 100mcg/hr at $900-$1200 for a months supply!) Methadone is another good inexpensive option-actually it will probably be the least expensive option but you need to be sure your Dr is very familiar with converting to Methadone. Methadone has a unique property to it that other long acting drugs dont have. It causes respiratory depression long, long after the effects of the drug wear off. If a Dr prescribes too much it can accumulate and cause respiratory depression after several days.

It is very important with Methadone that you NEVER escalate your dose on your own. Talk to your Dr and ask him what options he is willing to prescribe.
