I was abusing percocet and went in for a drug test 2 weeks after I detoxed from them completely, but failed my drug test. I am wondering what exactly a "drug test" tests for? Is there something I could've missed? Thanks.

The P.M Dr. I see does a test that consists of illegal drugs such as meth, pot, cocaine, etc. It also tells the level of the amount of medication in my system. Four- five months all of the patients were required to have their tests sent into a lab.for a mass/spec.These are sensitive and expensive so they do not do this any longer at this practice. When a new and better test comes out he gets it. The Dr. wants to make sure the meds you are prescribed are in your system, if not then they believe you are either selling them or abusing them. They have to do these to tests to protect themselves and make sure you are taking the meds properly. Every ones system works differently, some do not show a positive result after 2-7 days while others will show up longer. It is up too the Dr. to decide whether or not to keep you on as a patient or discharge you from his or her practice for testing positive.
