The methadone will be in your system from 5 to 7 days from your last dose. You can't just stop this medication though as you probably know. You wil need to taper off gradually in order to prevent withdrawals if you have been taking regularly. Please discuss this issue with the prescribing doctor. Since the job has zero tolerance for methadone, he may be able to switch you to a different opiate pain medicine that you would then have a prescription for and could present to the job as proof of need. Otherwise, please discuss what to do with the prescribing doctor, you don't want to go into withdrawals from the methadone.
