I have leg cramps at night, my feet actually distort to a different shape. If I'am reading a book or magazine, my hands and digits will distort and I have to take my other hand and move it back in place. When I yawn or sometimes when I brush my teeth my jaw will feel like I have lock jaw. what can I take to get rid of these cramps?
Thanks for any help.

Your symptoms seem quite severe. It might be a good idea to see your doctor.
Both aromasin and tamoxifen can cause muscle and joint/bone pain. Could you describe your symptoms as such or is it definitely cramps.

I have been on tamoxifen for a little over a year now. I am now experiencing severe muscle cramps in my upper thigh muscles in the evening on a fairly regular basis. The pain is nothing even close to what I used to call a "charlie horse". I was bent over in pain last night. It was more like a muscle spasm then a cramp. Could not walk and could not straighten out my leg. Have had blood tests and everything comes back perfect. Also potassium came back normal. Am not dehydrated drink 40 ounces+ of fluids a day.
Right now appear to have three side effects: tingling in my legs in the evening when I'm at rest; cold flashes every morning around 10 am and the severe leg cramps (which are getting worse). They are so painful that they bring tears to my eyes because they are sooooo painful. I'm sure that this is all from the drug.
Did you find something that worked to stop the severe cramping?
Hi Rosemary, my family Dr. put me on SLOW-MAG twice a day. It is in the Vitamin section, it is a time release product and helps with the cramps but not muscle soreness. It is suspect that I have fibromyalgia, hence the muscle soreness. Try the SLOW-MAG (magnesium chloride) at your Drug Mart or vitamin store. Hope this will help. God Bless You.

I am 69 was and a 26 year survivor. Was on tamoxifin 9 years from 1984-1993--never had cramping in my legs. From the health food store you can buy curcumin or phenocane--one is stronger than another (contains a blend with turmeric) cuts pain. I had trouble when I was on Arimidex for 18 months and had to take a capsule every so often. It worked for me. I am now on faslodex shots and do not have hardly any problems. The Arimidex does give you a fibromyalgia type problem, especially if you do not have your ovaries anymore. Mine were taken out in 1993.

Have now been on Faslodex since 22 Nov 10. Am having problems with my legs, feet, knees and wrists. One of the side effects is joint and muscle pain. I think something in these drugs depletes magnesium--I had something happen on Arimidex that may or may not have caused me to go into afib. Now am on coumidin possibly the rest of my life--to prevent a stroke. This happened late last May--they said I had acute brochitis (from some germ) and it broght on the afib. For what I know, lots of people have afib as something in their system causes a shortage of magnesium--they also believe potassium can do this. Early this year the FDA announced that PPI Proton Pump Inhibiters (like Prilosec) can cause after a year a shortage in your system of magnesium. Can even have a shortage if you take a supplement. Have since personaly met a pathologst that told me what she found in her research as she has afib.
I would suggest looking up foods that have magnesium as usually the food is better than the supplement for absorbtion.
Hope we find an answer to this unwanted problem.
