I am currently on OxyContin and my doctor has suggested switching me to Nucynta instead. I am wondering how it differs from OxyContin?

Dear azaleigh. Where OxyContin is a pure opiate pain reliever, nucynta has a dual effect. It has an opiate component and a component similar to tramadol. It is also classified as a norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor. It is felt that the combination may work better than just an opiate alone. It is still as highly addictive as the OxyContin is.
