BritBabe... or Climara is temporary or permanent? I was on Vivelle for 3 months then changed to Climara and came off after 6 weeks, as both caused rashes at site - and could be the culprit(s) in this awful hair loss.
Vivelle-Dot - Anyone know if the excessive hair loss I have experienced by using either/or Vivelle?

I have been on Vivelle-dot, 0.1 Patch for two months now. I have been noticing an extra amount of Hair on my brushes lately. Today I saw that some how the Patch had come off of me. I do not know for how long? When I took a shower tonight my Hair started coming off in clumps. The reason why I told you about the missing Patch is, Now I don't know if the Hair Loss is from the lack of estrogen or from being on the Patch for two months, but I do know that for a fact the Hair Loss DOES have something to do with the Patch. I have NEVER had anything like this happen to me before. I am calmed down a little right now, but I was Terrified! Have you lost a lot of Hair? Have you stopped taking your medications that are causing the hair loss? I don't know what to do? .

I have been on the vivelle dot HRT patch for 6 mos now had hysterecomy had the new robotic one and I did request at 47 to keep my ovaries if possible. He had me in surgery 6 hrs and I kept my ovaries but had large cyst and scar tissue had to be scrapped off my ovaries but he saved them. And ladies I can say I have never been the same .The upside the pain and massive bleeding is gone. But I went thru crying spells uncontrollable all the time after 6 weeks of the surgery he put me on this patch .5 and after a week my emotions felt more balanced and it really did help me. hair loss after washing it was when its the worse I can pull handfuls (luckily I have very thick hair) and now at 6 months still losing it and see a bold spot already. So I tried to quit taking it for a few weeks to see if that was causing it but sure few weeks not long enough to tell since it stays in your system awhile But can say those three weeks I missed the patch I would not balance my emotions and feel.much better on it . My doctor tells me under anesthesia and having hysterecomy can cause hair loss up to a year and not the patch .he also told me that ( I color my gray hairs) when I colored my hair for 6-8 mos after anesthesia stays in your system and color will not take good and he was right .just my experience not sure if it helped but like feedback from other ladies going thru the same but.my personal take on it I feel the patch is causing hair loss and hope to be off of it in three months! CathyL: Thanx for your comment. Yes, my hair loss did stop - eventually. But I did lose a lot - can't really measure how much, but enough to make me panic and see a Dermatologist and have many tests and biopsies done. Result was Androgen Alopaecia and Telogen Effluvium. I came off Vivelle and Climara and am now using Evamist spray - no real problems. Although I noticed more hair loss as well, BUT, I now believe the hair loss to be "seasonal" - in the winter months I seem to lose more, similarly I also have much weaker, soft, peeling and splitting nails at the same time.

Hi BritBabe, I expierenced the same problem with a lot of hair loss, I didn't connect the 2 at first, but it must be from the patch. I was scared too. I switched to a natural shampoo and conditioner, I don't blow dry my hair anymore and am letting it grow long and straight which is now in style :) The hair loss has declined significantly. My hair dresser said people lose 100 stands of hair a day. And now that my hair is long, it looks like I am still losing alot, but I guess it is within a normal range. I also add hair protein drops because I was getting a wide part line on my head. My hair has returned to normal now and looks healthy. I've been on Vivelle patch along with Progestrone now for about 4 years. However, from time to time I get off just to see if the hot flashes have gone away. Once off, within 4 days, the hot flashes are severe. I have noticed a great deal of hair loss, but wasn't sure why. Tones of hair in my brush, especially right after I wash it. Never put it together, just though I was getting older and losing hair. The hair lose is so bad, I can't wear my hair back without seeing my scalp. I'm scared to tie it up or pull it back in any kind of way. I just wear it loose these days. My friend just happen to ask me this weekend if I though it was because of the medication. That's why I visited this site. I have been taking Biotin and using Biotin shampoo and conditioner for 3 month now, but I don't see any real difference. I'm gong to make an appointment to see my doctor to discuss the hair lose. after reading your story, I think it's the patch. What do we do??? deal with hair lose or severe hot flashes all through the night!!!
