I too have an ICD for V-Tach. I've been on 200mg of Amiodarone for a year now and no problems... except a little problem sleeping most nights. I was on Sotalol prior to the last ablation but it didn't work very well... shocked 8 times in 10 months. I really feel pretty good and no shocks for one year today. The doctor just cut my Amiodarone to 100mg per day and if "no activity" for 90 days, we'll stop it completely and probably try Sotalol again. Amiodarone has worked pretty well for me. Good Luck.
