but how will it be more effective? by giving him 250 mg and skipping the next day? or by splitting the capsule and giving him the half each day?

if it is capsule and powder give him whole thing but if its not then giving him half a day will help him more because he will still be in his system but not he will wont be able to tell breaking it is best idea if u cant call doc get 125 caps instead 250 for ur dog for each day good luck .

Yes you can.

And im not saying this to nit-pick at you, just to inform; a 'capsule' is a gel-based cap that has powder, beads, or the like inside. A tablet (tab) is what a 'normal' pill is, like an asprin. Just so ya know

It would perhaps be difficult to split a hard gelatin capsule (shell) as it contains powder or pellets so the division from 250mg to 125mg shall be difficult. The powder or pellets would not be exactly half, hope this helps?
