The Dr didn't believe me and gave me 2 tylenol suppositories for my fever in the ER because I had had motrin 2 hours before(which does work)-later when my fever whent up instead of down-he said i guess you're right. For some reason twighlight drugs don't work on me either-I remember every second of my colonoscopy and will never have another! I remember hearing something on a radio dr show that it is common for someone who is immune to Tylenol to be immune to twighlight drugs also because of the way they work. I can't find anything about it anymore -Have you heard of this? I'm so scared my Dr won't believe me and try to use a twighlight drug for my wrist surgery.
Tylenol doesn't work on my fever/pain, neither do twighlight drugs-correlation?

you are not the only one out there who twilight drugs don't work on. I have talked to lots of people who have woke up and yelled and the dr knocks them out again. Did you tell them when you woke up during the procedure? AS far as the wrist surgery if your surgeon won't knock you out properly find one that will. I have a great orthopedic surgeon who has done both my wrists and many many other surgeries on me and he knows it takes a butt load of drugs to knock me out and never had a problem. He's the greatest. They are out there you just have to look. Wish you luck. Oh and by the way do you realize when they first started colonoscopies you would have to get on a table with your ass in the air and all you would get is a numbing shot in your butt and back then it was hard metal they stuck up there while your wide awake. The only reason i know this is because of my dad when he first stated getting them. How horrible. No way i would of done that. Hope i helped you out a little and if nothing else gave you a good laugh from reading some of this Leron

doglover1, welcome to the sight! You have the same problem I do! I had the same experience with my colonoscopy. Thought I was going to die when they went around the curve in my left colon! Have the same problem with dentist too. You are extra sensitive. Do you have firbromyalgia by chance? This will make you this way. Talk to the anestesiologist before your surgery, They always come in & talk to you.l I had wrist & left thumb rebuilt in April & was told they would do a nerve block only, & I told the anesteliologist I had to be put out too! So she did, but make sure they do both.
I rarely take pain meds -I have a really high pain threshold. The pain meds either don't help the pain ,(just make me tired) so what's the point- or are too strong and make me feel like I'm od'ing and my bloodpressure gets too low. Ibuprofin works the best if I have pain

Thanks for answering:D - I never became unconcious during my colonoscopy at all- and kept telling the the dr he was really hurting me and he better give me something-several swear words were said(by me) and he kept saying we are almost done(liar!)- I kept saying I thought you said we were almost done f--- he kept saying "you better be still, you almost made me stab you-and I said-you better give me something so it doesn't hurt so bad then a..hole
he sounded like a jack ass and i would of jumped off the table and hit him with the temper i have besides all the swearing to add to it. you need to find a better Dr. for your next one as there are many good ones i was lucky i got mine the first time. And please do not tell me you will never go through this again as it is to important so you don't end up with cancer and dying like one of our best friends all because of pride in not wanting to go through it your friend Leron
I will definitely get a different Dr for the next one. Regular anesthesia works fine on me, just not twighlight drugs. Back surgery went fine, so did ruptured appendix surgery. Actually narcotics work almost too well on me-I avoid them or take 1/2 or less of the amount prescribed. After 3 wisdom teeth removed I tried a whole oxycod/apap 325 mg-scared me to death-I felt like I was floating to the ceiling and was worried I'd get chopped up by the ceiling fan,so then I ate a package of saltines because I thought I was going to die of an overdose. Not the thing to do after oral surgery-thank God I didn't screw up anything, but never took anymore of the pain med-just toughed it out!
This is NOT true! If they used hard metal if would have punctured the colon, & caused allsorts of problems! I am old enough to know these things. Your Father may have had a sigmondoscopy (sp) where they just look in the lower part of the colon, but anything that goes thru the colon has to be flexible. Sorry to disagree with your answer...
i never said he stuck it all the way up the colon. It was when the first started many years ago and that's how they did it Leron
Thanks to both of you for your concern, you both seem like very caring people :D I have a few years before I need another colonoscopy thank God. Just still trying to find out from a pharmacology standpoint why the Tylenol and twilight drugs don't work on me so I can show my Dr. I wish I could remeber which radio program I heard about it on darn it
A lot of people have these problems. If you are having the wrist surgery I would ask for a nerve block & some anestectic to put you under. That's what they did for me. I have fibromyalgia which makes me very tender everywhere, & most anestesiologists understand this & will do everything posible to help with the pain of surgery. They alway come & talk with you before surgery, so ask for a nerve bcok. Take a sling with you or you will be charged for one. You won't have control of your arm at all with a nerve block. Just my thoughts...
