Good day my name is Tom and I would appreciate some advice on my questions:My girlfriend has been on Triphasil for a month now- she started using it on her first period and has completed one cycle, she stopped her period on the 30th of October(a month after she started) and we had unprotected sex on the 4th of November. Today(7th November) we realized that she is ovulating, or what seems to be so. Is Triphasil not suppose to prevent ovulation? and if so then why would she ovulate? She has been taking the pill correctly as instructed every morning between 6:20 and 6:40am . Could she get pregnant now from our sex on the 4th? if so what are the chances and signs. Also when do we know that the pill is in full effect and it is safe to have unprotected sex? Sorry about all the questions. I find the web not very clear on these topics.

Well you see, today we had PROTECTED sex ( because i believe although she is on the pill its just safer than to tempt the odds, although small, so we would use protection from time to time) and after intercourse when I removed the condom I saw a bit of whitish, goo substance. So we assumed she was ovulating. Could this be something else than ovulation? If not the only other thing i can think of that might have created this effect is: Your suppose to start taking the pill on the first day of your period, she started taking on her third day of her period, but started at the third red pill, as if she had taken the prior one's. could those 2 red pills that she did not take had so much effect?

If your girlfriend started taking the Pill early in Oct and took a full months pack of Pills and took them correctly she should have been protected against pregnancy when you had sex on Nov. 4th. No she should not be ovulating. What makes her think that she is ovulating? Once you complete an entire pack she should be fully protected. Some Pill manufacturers claim you are protected after 7 days on the Pill but when I worked in family planning we had our girls complete a whole pack before they had sex without a back up method like a condom.
