I've noticed the first day the patch is applied she's very altered. Is this a side effect of long term use?

Dizziness, drowsiness, memory problems, hallucinations and paranoia and restlessness are all reported side effects from Transderm-Scop.
If you feel these are becoming an issue for your mother you should talk to her doctor.
