What are the differences between the two as far as giving relief. Which is better.

Tramadol is a centrally-acting analgesic and a lower affinity for opioid receptors. Percocet is an opiate agonist combined with Acetaminophen (Tylenol) to treat moderate to severe pain. Tramadol has less potential for abuse or respiratory depression than other opiate agonists, but both may occur. If a lot of pain is occuring after the surgery, the best bet would be Percocet.
It is really hard to say which is better as different people have different experiences.
Tramadol is a narcotic-like pain reliever. It is used to treat moderate to severe pain. Tramadol extended-release is used to treat moderate to severe chronic pain when treatment is needed around the clock.
Percocet contains oxycodone and acetaminophen. Oxycodone is in a group of drugs called narcotic pain relievers. Acetaminophen is a less potent pain reliever that increases the effects of oxycodone.
The combination of acetaminophen and oxycodone is used to relieve moderate to severe pain.

I don't know much about pericot, so maybe I shouldn't be answering this question, but if you can avoid it, don't take the tramadol. It sounds like you are going to need relatively long term pain relief, and you don't want to get hooked on it! It is esier than you think!
Hello, I don't know the difference but I would like to inform you of the very severe withdrawl symptoms that you can expect to have after being on Tramadol. I have been taking tramadol for about 11/2 now, not because I need it for pain but because I am addicted to it. I am currently trying to wean myself off and have experienced symptoms of restless leg syndrom, insomnia, severe anxiety, depression. These are very common and I am amazed at the lack of knowledge that most physicians have regarding this drug. Most will tell you that it is not addicting and does not cause withdrawls, very false...... I would do more research on this drug. It does well with pain and also has SSRI effects that cause elation and lots of energy. It is for this reason that I continued to take this medication. But recently I have noticed that I been having lots of short term memory loss and difficulty with speech. It also causes very severe irratability, agitation which can lead to fits of rage. I am on this web site looking for a support group to help in my weaning process. I hope I have given you enough info to make you think twice about this med...
