My whole body has been itching alot lately, to the point where I want to dig my skin off, feels like something crawling on me, my husband thinks I am nuts sometimes. Most of the time it is at night usually starts in the late evenings when I am trying to settle down and talk to you folks then go to bed. Cannot take Benadryl I am allergic. One Benadryl pill OTC strenghth makes me extremely hyper, one pill kept me up for 5 days straight with no sleep just wanted to run around all the time until it finally wore off. Does anybody have any ideas? Nothing has changed in my diet, soaps, etc.. As most of you know I am going through alot with the cancer issue and anxiety/stress. I am wondering if the extra stress/anxiety is causing some of this. Any suggestions my friends this is driving me nuts!!! HELP ME PLEASE!!!

Hi Marjorie, I can well understand the feelings that you would have cause of the itching, I could suggest a simple non-side affecting remedy, hope it works, warm a little coconut oil & add some camphor to it & apply a that oil on the area where there the itching is the most, it might give you relief, do let me know if you did happen to try it, thanks & hang in there people here need your answers which I read on a regular basis, best of luck!

Hey, you write to me all the time, maybe I can help you. Ha ha ha... I was thinking maybe it is some type of hives from all of the things you are going through. I am sure that even though you say this gives you stress relief you are still constintaly (sp?) thinking about the 11th. I once was prescribed a medicine for similar itching and a rash and it was because of nerves. I don't know the name of it, but it was prescription so I am sure your dr. knows. Maybe call and ask about it. Good luck. Thanks for adding me for the private message. Don't worry about taking awhile, I haven't had a chance to write, I had just checked it after you wrote back and you hadn't done it yet so I wrote that to remind you. Later.

hi marjorie, I do not know alot about the side affects from any meds. or the stress you may be going through. I certainly think you have a valid point. Have your husband look very closely to make sure you have no rashes of any kind. I was petting a dog I didn,t know anything about but, it was clear she had fleas, of course I just HAD to run my fingers over the dog, she was full of fleas( which I am not even suggesting) you have fleas. Two days later I kept itching my neck in a couple places. I was going to my pm the next day and asked him. It was in the ringworm family, just what I wanted, it's already gone, my whole point is have you touched any dogs (even people) that may have been around any animals dog/cats? Any new clothes or p.j.s? Well after saying that I can a least let you know they sell Benadryl in a cream. You can can try putting it on just a few of the itchy spots. Epsom salt baths may help as well.
yayablondie has an excellent point as well, nerves do cause hives, that would cetainly make you itchy. Fall Queen
I am allergic to Benadryl as I said earlier, even Benadryl cream, all forms of Benadryl but thanks for trying to help, marjorie zych

Hi marge,
have you tried putting on good lotion? Also when you scratch, instead of scratching with hand use Terri wash cloth. It has a little roughness to it, and rub the area instead of scratching. I'm thinking it sounds stress related. I had a plant manger, who had a rash or hives, that turned into sores because of his itching the spots. He like he had a skin problem on the face. he had sores, I guess from scratching so much.
Please try to relaxes and let the Lord handle things. Tell anyone you talk to and also believe in what you say that it's in the hands of CHRIST, YOUR PERSONAL SAVIOUR. It has to be in your mind as the clock ticks on.
You will servise my Birth day.

Thanks my friends again. I finally had had enough of it and called the doctor. It does turn out it is anxiety related, surprise, surprise. She gave me a shot of Valium and I am not itching nearly as bad and it is decreasing more and more. I am nervous about the surgery but thanks to you folks with the reassuring prayers and kind words I am doing o.k. as o.k. as one can be right now. I am trusting in Christ our Lord and know he will bring me home safe and sound so I can be with my hubby and my friends. Thanks again, much love and respect, marjorie zych

Just turned my pc on and saw a question from you. You rank over my lawyers email which I will open in a minute, I know what it is :-( from him. Another delay. You already have some good answers. Have you been prescribed any NEW med recently, in preparation for any tests/ procedures coming up? If its itchy, try a good old fashioned oatmeal bath. Now don't laugh. fall queen knows her stuff about dogs, so do I. I think she will agree. When one of my dogs gets in the weeds, or has a reaction to something, or just itchy from nerves (dogs react too to stress) I'll wet her down (it's usually Lucy Loo) with some warm water and apply a soupy oatmeal mixture cooked in milk. Let it cool. Massage it in to the skin and let it set until it's almost dry. Don't lick! Just teasing you Marj. It is an excellent soother and "calms" the skin down. They have OTC oatmeal based lotions but you can do the at home therapy to save some $$ as it is pretty expensive.
Thanks will try oatmeal and see if that helps. I think it is all nerves but I will keep an eye on it, thanks again marjorie zych

Hi Majorie, I hope by now you have some relief from the itching I just read where the juice from an alo vera plant can stop itching and rashes. I know that it is good for burns because I have used it before. If you want to look it up on the computer just check it out. Don't know if this will help, but it worth a try.

Have you had any changes in your meds? Has anything been raised to a higher dosage? Then again it can be dry skin. It sounds like it is definantly something you are allergic to its just a matter of what? I know that my pain meds sometimes causes me to itch but that is only if i take a higher amount than normal that day. If you are unable to take benadryl try looking for something else or ask for help from your pharmacist for a suggestion. Just recently i had this really weird rash and i really just couldnt figure out what it was. I thought i had gotten into some poison ivy of some sort the pharmacist suggested putting athletes feet itch cream on it and it worked great maybe that might help you. Anything is worth a shot right now i think. If not see if you can get some medicated cream from a doctor good luck marjorie.
I find that if I overtake my pain meds I itch too. No rash just major itch all over. this is a fairly new reaction, so I figure I have developed an allergy. The bonus is that I can no longer abuse pain meds! It's not worth the effect. If I take only a minimal dose to help - not totally end the pain; I'm OK. Thats all I can add. SharonH

I have had complete body itch for 6 months and it has been driving me crazy. I was referred by my regular medical practitioner to a very knowledgeable professional dermitologist and he immediately prescribed a series of PREDNISONE taken with food in the morning and an anti- histomine at bedtime. It called for 8 5mg pills each morning for 3 days , the 7 for three days ,and diminishing amounts until I ran out
Following this procedure I slept well the first night and I noted a significant improvement after 2 days. By the 6 or 7th day the itching disappeared completely. Needless to say I was ecstatic.
However the doctor duscontinued the prescription when the pescribed amount ran out. The reason given was that there are possible serious side effects.
The itching started to return and in desperation after some weeks of torture, I insisted on repeating the series 2 days ago and I already feel improvement.

I dont have answer for you, but I can at least ease your mind that you are not crazy!! I too have been experiencing this horrible problem. While i dont have the same life stressors that you have right now, i am dealing with stuff i didnt see coming! I found just a few hours ago that pure vitamin e oil gave me relief enough to get a nap!!! I do not have dry skin, in fact im still using acne meds because i have oily skin on my face and my hair needs washing everyday. My family dr and my dermatologist are somewhat baffled. Ive been living on benadryl because i cant take steroids Give the vitamin e oil a try if you havent already Keep me in mind if find an answer
