Toprol-xl is it metoprolol succinate or tartrate? what is the difference?

Toprol-XL is metoprolol succinate.

Succinate and tartrate are just different salts of metoprolol. The strength of the tablet indicates the amount of "metoprolol" it contains.

When changing from Metoprolol succinate, 25 mg. daily, to metoprolol tartrate, what dose is correct?

I take this for blood pressure and have had no problems but understand that the tartrate is cheaper.
