... am on Cymbalta and Amitriptyline but this past month I have been in pretty bad pain in my knees, hands, ankles and elbows. Do any of you use Savella (sp?) or Lyrica, and how do you like it? Side effects?
I appreciate your input.
Best,

DC Family,
My doctor had to cancel my appointment because he was called away out of the country on emergency. I am now scheduled for next Wednesday.
Thank you for your helpful input. I got good feedback from everyone and now still unsure about which way to go! lol
Heard good things about Lyrica and then also Savella. Guess it boils down to what works best for me. Which means I will have to do trial and error over the next few months. I wish it were easier as my doctor is not close by and I feel I am wasting time with meds that are not working. 'le sigh'
Best to you all!

Hey Jillynnie,
I have a friend who has fibro and she takes Savella with great success, though if you have any psychiatric issues it may not be the best choice. Lyrica is also a good option, it must be titrated up properly and may cause weight gain. Such a trial or error sort of ordeal. If you decide to discontinue the Cymbalta please taper off and not stop abruptly.
Good luck at the doctors and maybe do some reading on each of these meds by plugging them into the search window above. Then you can have your questions ready for the doc.
Best wishes,
Laurie

Hi Jilly,
I've been wondering where you were all week? What ever happened with the out of town trip, did you win any ribbons for anything this year? I've been a wondering.
I was given Savella last year to try. But I only took it once. When I was given this med I was in heavy duty wds. It was right after my old doc left and I had been on a high dose of MsContin. All I will say is Savella and wds are not a good combination.
I can also tell you Lyrica is based on Neurotin. I asked for Lyrica once, but since I had also had a bad reaction to Neurotin my doc refused to give it to me. He said the chances are I would also have a bad reaction to Lyrica. I don't think it means that if Neurotin didn't work you shouldn't try Lyrica. It just means if you had a bad reaction, like I did to Neurotin, then don't take Lyrica.
But it is good to see you again on these boards, Jilly.

Hullo Jillynnie!!
I recommend massive amounts of OPIATES!! OK, JUST KIDDING!!
Actually, Lyrica in this gurlz opinion sux, too many side effects! But that was just my experience. You may do well on Lyrica, don't know until you try it, right?
Give that Savella a go? Let us know what your doc said/did when you get back please?
This opinion is sort of out there, but why not remain on Subs for pain? Is that a bad idea guys?
Good luck sistah!!!

My dear Jilly... Hello dawlin... where or where have u been?? I have really missed u!!! Just wanted to say that... I don't have much to add to your question..as I do not have fibromyalgia.
I can tell u that Lyrica is the kind of drug that u r either going love Or hate. U will just have to try it. There r some strange side effects. A certain %age of the population experiences them. I hope I hope that u r not one of those people becuz it can really work well if u r not n that population. Good luck with it and the other drugs to which u might change.
It was so good to see your name today.
Welcome back my friend!!! I hope that u soon start to feel better... Lv...

I absolutely love Lyrica. Even the first dose of 75mg helped me right away! Couldn't hardley walk until I started back on it> No weight gain for me. Watch what I eat!

Hey, Jilly, I've been using Savella for over a year now. I tried all the others & the side effects were terrible for me. Savella had the least, if any, side effects, and has by far given me the best results with my fibro. My flares have really become minimal and it would be my first choice for fibromyalgia treatment. Good luck, let me know how things go.
Peace,
Teresa
