No, it will be of no benefit. Zostavax vaccine will not work to treat post herpetic neuralgia.

Ask your doctor about taking Lyrica. I'ts a seizure med that has taken the medical profession by surprise because it works for pain. Shingles is one it can be used for. My son at age 43 had a bad case of shingles on his face very near his eyes. They put him on Lyrica, & it helped him tremendously. If you go that route, beware, & READ all about because it does have some side effects. Good Luck to you. Mary

You need to let your doctor know that this pain is continuing, the Vaccine as she told you will not help and it is not given for people who have had shingles but perhaps the doctor will be able to suggest a medication that will settle this down some, I had a friend that just went through this her fear was that he would prescribe a pain medication instead he used a drug for nerve pain associated to what she had been through, she went through a kot of nights being uncomfortable and today she is greatly improved. I hope you discuss this with your doctor and find something that will improve your pain. I wish you the very best,
