My husband has AF, congestive heart failure, mitral valve prolapse, leaky valve, pacemaker, defibulator, sleep apnea and is always tired, weak, depressed, cranky. Would this product help OR could it do damage to his heart and/or defibulator?
This med was prescribed for my hubby, but we did not get it?

The med was andorgel
Hey Gloriagh,
The prescribing literature points out the following:
Some medical conditions may interact with AndroGel Gel. Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you have any medical conditions, especially if any of the following apply to you:
•if you have heart problems (eg, congestive heart failure), coronary artery disease, angina (chest pain), high cholesterol levels, swelling or fluid buildup (edema), lung problems, or sleep apnea (long pauses in breathing while you sleep)
I would be cautious using this gel without first discussing further with the pharmacist or the doctor.
Best wishes,
Laurie

Androgel:
Side Effects by Body System - for Healthcare Professionals
Cardiovascular
Cardiovascular side effects have included hypertension, and edema with and without congestive heart failure.
Endocrine
Endocrine side effects have included gynecomastia as a frequent and sometimes persistent side effect. Cautious use is recommended in patients with existing gynecomastia.
During exogenous administration of androgens, endogenous testosterone release is inhibited through feedback inhibition of pituitary luteinizing hormone (LH). Large doses of exogenous androgens may suppress spermatogenesis through inhibition of pituitary follicle stimulating hormone (FSH).
Androgens may decrease levels of thyroxin binding globulin resulting in decreased total T4 serum levels and increased resin uptake of T3 and T4. Free thyroid hormone levels remain unchanged and there is no clinical evidence of thyroid dysfunction.
Wooo Hooo Mary ya caught it!! Way to be observant.
